For this study, 450 undergraduate students were asked to read the fear of abandonment scenarios and complete the abandonment schema scale, cognitive emotional regulation strategies scale, and the romantic relationship satisfaction scale. The results indicated that when the fear of abandonment was stimulated, high level of abandonment schema group used catastrophizing which is a kind of maladaptive cognitive emotional regulation strategies, and it decreased the romantic relationship satisfaction.
